10年にわたって伊勢神宮を撮り続けてきた写真家・宮澤正明が、太古の昔から森や海と共生を続けてきた日本人の心に迫ったドキュメンタリー。神宮の神域林、木曽の大檜林、白神山地といった日本各地の深山幽谷へ足を踏み入れ、宮大工棟梁や漁師、科学者など各分野の専門家にインタビューを敢行。さらに建築家の隈研吾やタレント・映画監督の北野武に宇宙観を聞くなど、様々なアプローチで人と自然の共生について考察し、現代日本人が失いつつあるアイデンティティーを再発見していく。
This documentary is about people who live with forests in Japan and they tell the wisdom of living with the nature. The story starts from the midnight of October 2013 at Ise Jingu when the holly ceremony called 'Shikinen Sengu' was held. The ceremony is held in every 20 years for more than 1000 years and it is very connected to the forest and sustainability. After the Ise Jingu, the story goes around Japan to seek for the people who have very close relationship with the forests such as an oyster fisherman, a biologist, a composer and etc. Those people tell us why Japan has the faith with forest.
