与导演的前作『无处安身』类似，都是以跟随的视角讲述了沉默寡言的主角在与身边各色人等的互动中逐渐步入“绝境”的过程，结局也再次诉诸未入画面的暴力，只是这一部的剧情更为简单晦涩。围绕“遗忘/无法遗忘”展开的故事又很像张艺谋的『归来』，同样需要观众来想象发生在影片之外的部分。
